Ireland 2024
The figure dance group from Kildare - Ireland transports the audience to the green fields of their homeland with intricate steps and graceful movements. The perfect synchronization and the dizzying speed with which they perform the figures demonstrate the agility and mastery of the young dancers. Their director is Caroline Morrissey.
Irish figure dancing is usually performed by groups, often in ensembles of four, six or eight dancers. During the dance they form circles and squares and more complex figures. Each dance consists of multiple figures or sequences of steps and movements. Precision and speed are essential to the impact of the dances. Footwork involves a series of quick, complex steps that are often performed on the toes. The pirouettes and entanglements included in the compositions are performed in amazing synchrony and coordination.
This is the second time the group has participated in an international festival. Its first overseas tour was to Disneyland.
